New Shed Gives SACD Even More Elbow Room

29/09/2007

Always eager to improve the existing structure and grow with the demand for international freight services, South African Container Depots (SACD) have finished construction on the latest addition to their already proficient Johannesburg facilities.

The new warehouse which was completed in the December 2007 is addition to an existing warehouse of the main facility. The extension will be used to receive over border cargo (minerals specifically) which is brought in by road, and includes an overhang on the offloading side of the warehouse – meaning that the offloading of service trucks can be done in any weather condition.

The new extension to the warehouse, which has no official name but has been nick named the "D Shed" , has a storage capacity of 7000t and has increased the floor space surface area of the current warehouse by 5500 square metres to a total of around 30 000 square metres.
